I bought an original PICkit II and after a while I started trying out the latest chips so I ended buying a PICkit 3 after many years they both work well. The thing is the real programmer is just not very expensive to begin with so there is little savings with buying a third party unit if one ends up throwing them away later. So now I only buy the manufacturers real device and don't have to deal with those problems.

I been burned too many times with clones that work fine but after a major Windows upgrade one day they cease working to never work again. I have given up on the idea of using clones, sure there are clones out there that are identical, but the little information given about clones one is spending money on faith. I have a FTDI chip serialĪny suggestions are very much appreciated. What is the easiest or best way to go NOW.

Now i want to program a pic for a QRP related project. JDM programmer i built from Bobblick's web site. Now, seemingly IĬannot get anything to work. Years ago i programmed a 16f628 Pic micocontroller. It may not handle some of the latest PICs, but I think there's a PICkit III that will handle more parts. It's by Microchip but I think you can find clones too. I've always had good luck with the PICkit II. On Tuesday, 10 July, 2018, 10:42:06 PM IST, Nick Kennedy wrote:
