For some reason, this game fascinates me more than any other on this list.

The cutscenes are nauseatingly animated (I guess spoilers if you really care about this game's story), the world design is basically Liminal Spaces: The Game. Recommended only if you enjoy SpongeBob, but not if you want a great game experience. Really simple puzzles, but I did like walking around the levels as there are some places never before seen in the SpongeBob universe (such as the bar in Rock Bottom, the restaurant overlooking the kelp forest, etc). There's more variety - 9 of the 18 levels have little to no platforming in them, opting instead for sliding down a path, beating a boss or driving the patty car - which can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how you like the new kinds of levels.Įmployee of the Month (PC): A short (<3 hours) point-and-click adventure game. Much more linear than BfBB as it follows the beats of the movie, and it has no hub world.

The Movie Game (console): I personally like this one as much as Battle for Bikini Bottom. Basically, it's a good game, but there is a drop in quality anywhere it branches off from the original.

It seems I have a lot of negative to say, but that's because it doesn't do much new from the original beyond amazing graphics. Sand Mountain was my favorite in the original lookswise, but they added an ugly blue fog to everything in the remake, which really sucks. There is a difference in the movement (Sandy's rope now feels very rigid) and the added detail sometimes makes it hard to tell where you can or can't jump. It's just mindless wave-based gameplay, and multiplayer kept dropping me. The game looks gorgeous, the added co-op game was pretty terrible though. You don't have to get every single item in the game to beat the game with a satisfying conclusion, which is great in my opinion.īattle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated: Basically as good as the original, which means it's worth playing. The comedy isn't great, but it may just be my sense of humor. A good platformer with decent variety, though not all of it is enjoyable (the Merma-Lair and Kelp Forest come to mind). Side note: if you don't like platformers, you'll not like the vast majority of these games.īattle for Bikini Bottom (console): Might as well get the obvious out of the way. If anyone has anything to add I'd love to read it. Here I will give a brief review of the 9 I have played. Now that Rehydrated is over 6 months old, I wanted to make a review here - in the process, I realized that I've actually played 9 SpongeBob games (and completed 8), and given every one of them lots of playtime in the last five years.

SpongeBob's face and distinctive laugh are known across the world today, but how exactly has an animated series about a walking, talking sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea lasted for so long?
